Seeds, Pairings Set for 2024 MIAA Baseball Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The seeds and pairings are set for the 2024 MIAA Baseball Championship Tournament. Eight teams advance to the play-in series hosted on-campus sites May 3-5 with the four winning teams from the on-campus series will advance to the championship’s finals, hosted by Pittsburg State University, May 9-12.

Central Missouri captured the Association's 2024 regular season championship and the top seed in the MIAA tournament. The Mules finished with an impressive league record of 29-4 (43-6 overall). This marks Central Missouri’s fifth consecutive regular season title and 30th overall in program history.
 
The top-seeded Mules will host No. 8 seed Fort Hays State (12-21, 25-24) in a best-of-three series on their Tompkins Field at Crane Stadium in Warrensburg, Mo. Game one of the series is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, May 3.
 
Missouri Southern was the Association’s 2024 runner-up in the regular season with a league record of 24-9 (37-13 overall). The Lions tabbed the No. 2 and will host No. 7-seeded Northwest Missouri (12-21, 21-28) in the best-of-three series at Warren Turner Field. Game one of the series in Joplin, Mo., is set for 3 p.m. on Friday.
 
Pittsburg State and Central Oklahoma tied for the third-place finish in the league standings. Both the Gorillas and Bronchos posted MIAA records of 22-11 with Pitt State claiming the higher seed thanks to their 2-1 series win over Central Oklahoma in the regular season.
 
The No. 3-seeded Gorillas (22-11, 32-16) will host No. 6 seed Rogers State (14-19, 24-23) in a three-game series on Al Ortolani Field at the Gene Bicknell Sports Complex in Pittsburg, Kan. Game one of the series is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday.
 
No. 4-seeded Central Oklahoma (22-11, 36-12) will host a best-of-three series against No. 5-seeded Washburn (21-12, 28-19). Game one is set for 6 p.m. Friday on the Bronchos’ Wendell Simmon Field in Edmond, Okla.
 
The winners of the best-of-three series will advance to Pittsburg, Kan., for the championship’s final rounds. The remaining four teams will compete in a double-elimination tournament with the championship title game set for Saturday, May 11 at noon. The tournament’s champion will receive the Association’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Central Region Championship May 16-19.
