KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The bracket is set for the 2024 MIAA/GAC Men’s Tennis Championship. The postseason tournament returns to Edmond Center Court in Edmond, Okla., May 1-3.
The top three teams from the North Division and the top three teams out of the South Division will meet at
Edmond Center Court to compete for the 2024 MIAA Championship title and the Association’s automatic berth into the NCAA postseason.
The opening matches are scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, with the championship semifinal set for 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 2. The championship match will be played at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 3.
Men’s tennis programs in the MIAA and Great American Conference (GAC) compete in a North/South divisional schedule with in-division conference matches counting towards their tournament seed.
Washburn clinched the No. 1 seed from the North Division with a flawless 4-0 record against their divisional opponents. Northwest Missouri (3-1) will be the North Division’s No. 2 seed and Nebraska Kearney (2-2) will be the No. 3 seed.
Both Harding and Ouachita finished 3-1 in the South division. Harding claimed the top seed over the Tigers thanks to the Bisons’ 5-2 victory over Ouachita in the regular season. Southeastern Oklahoma State and Southern Arkansas also ended the regular season in a tie at 2-2. Southeastern won 4-3 over the Muleriders in the regular season to secure the final spot in the postseason tournament. Ouachita will be the No. 2 seed and the Savage Storm will be the No. 3 seed in the South Division.
Both the Ichabods (17-4 overall) and Bisons (14-7 overall) earn first-round byes as the No. 1 seeds. Nebraska Kearney (13-10 overall) will take on Ouachita (12-6 overall) and Northwest Missouri (12-6 overall) will compete against Southeastern Oklahoma State (18-8 overall) in the championship’s opening round. The winners will advance to take on the top seeds Thursday morning.
