KANSAS CITY, MO – The Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its All-MIAA teams and postseason awards for the 2024 women’s soccer season. Fifty-eight MIAA student-athletes earned All-MIAA honors for their performances in the 2024 season.
Headlining the 2024 MIAA women’s soccer postseason awards are the league’s major award winners – Central Oklahoma’s Rebekah George was named the Offensive Player of the Year, Missouri Western’s Lauren Nylund was named the Defensive Player of the Year. Missouri Western’s Keeley Krooenberg was named the Goalkeeper of the Year, Central Missouri’s Izzy Joyce was named the Freshman of the Year, and Griffon head coach Jacob Ploacher was voted the Coach of the Year by his peers.
The league’s final regular season matches of the 2024 season concluded Wednesday, November 6. Eight teams advanced to the postseason tournament, led by back-to-back MIAA Champion Washburn. The Ichabods and the MIAA regular season runner up Missouri Western led the league with eight All-MIAA honors each. Central Missouri collected seven All-MIAA honorees.
In her first season competing in the MIAA, Central Oklahoma’s
Rebekah George was crowned the MIAA Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league in scoring with 10 goals and four assists for 24 points in the regular season. The graduate student from Choctaw, Okla., started all 18 games in the Bronchos midfield, helping UCO to a fourth-place finish in the league. George also ranked in the MIAA’s top ten with 22 shots on goal and 1.22 shots on goal per game.
The MIAA Defensive Player of the Year
Lauren Nylund was an all-around player for the Griffons this season. A senior defender from San Antionio, Texas, Nylund started all 18 matches for the Griffons, playing a team-high 1,609 minutes. Not only did she anchor a defensive line that allowed just nine goals all season, but she also contributed offensively with three goals and four assists for 10 points. All three of Nylund’s goals were game winners.
Playing a key role in Missouri Western’s tough defense is the MIAA Goalkeeper of the Year
, Keeley Kroonenberg. Kroonenberg, a senior from Highlands Ranch, Colo., ranked in the league’s top three in saves (42), goals against average (.450) and shutouts (7). In 111 shots faced this season, Kroonenberg allowed just seven goals
The MIAA Freshman of the Year
Izzy Joyce started all 18 games for the Jennies, playing a total of 1,237 minutes. A forward from Lenexa, Kan., Joyce ranked in the league’s top ten in goals (7), game-winning goals (3), points (17) and shots (43).
Missouri Western head coach
Jacob Plocher was voted the MIAA Coach of the Year by his peers. In just his second season leading the Griffons, Plocher led the program to a runner-up this season after finished eighth in the 2023 season.

The 2024 MIAA Women’s Soccer Championship begins Sunday, November 10 on campus sites. The winners of Sunday’s quarterfinal matches will advance to the final rounds of the 2024 MIAA Women’s Soccer Championship, hosted at the
