ST. JOSEPH, MO – The University of Central Oklahoma captured its first-ever MIAA tournament title at the Association’s 2024 Volleyball Championship on Saturday night in St. Joseph’s Civic Arena.
The 2024 MIAA Volleyball Championship featured two top ten NCAA Division II volleyball programs. No. 9-ranked and third-seeded Central Oklahoma and No. 3-ranked and top-seeded Nebraska Kearney 3-1 in the championship match, winning the Bronchos first MIAA tournament title in program history.
The Bronchos prevailed 18-25, 31-29, 26-24, 25-16 in the championship showdown at the Civic Center on Saturday, November 23. Central Oklahoma improves to 30-2 with its tenth-straight win while dropping the league’s regular season champion Nebraska Kearney to 30-2. The Bronchos are the only team to beat the Lopers this season.
Mikaela Garvin and MIAA Player of the Year Addison Wimmer led the Bronchos with a combined 43 kills in the four-set thriller. Garvin hit a sizzling .625, knocking down a season-high 23 kills in 32 attacks with just three errors. Wimmer had 20 kills to go along with 11 digs and four blocks.
Nebraska Kearney finished as the MIAA championship’s runner-up for the third consecutive season. Asha Regier led the Lopers with 17 kills, nine digs and two blocks.

Twelve players were named to the 2024 MIAA All-Tournament team at the conclusion of the championship match. Central Oklahoma and Nebraska Kearney each have four players named to the team, followed by Missouri Western with three and Northwest Missouri with one.
The tournament title secures the Bronchos’ automatic ticket into the 2024 NCAA Division II volleyball postseason. The NCAA will announce the full 64-team bracket at 6:30 PM CT on Monday, November 25, during the 2024 NCAA Division II Selection Show.
