2024 All-MIAA Volleyball Teams and Postseason Awards

KANSAS CITY, MO – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its All-MIAA teams and postseason awards for the 2024 volleyball season. Forty-two NCAA Division II volleyball players were named to the 2024 All-MIAA teams with seven also earning the Association’s major postseason awards.
 
The final matches of the eleven-week regular season concluded on Saturday, November 16, with eight teams advancing to the 2024 MIAA Volleyball Championship in St. Joseph, Mo. Nebraska Kearney was crowned the MIAA regular season champion after finishing  15-1 against league opponents (28-1 overall). The title is the Lopers first since 2019 and the program’s seventh overall since joining the MIAA in 2012.
 
Nebraska Kearney highlighted the 2024 postseason awards with five major award winners and seven All-MIAA recipients. Central Oklahoma also collected seven All-MIAA honors, while Missouri Western and Washburn had six selections each, followed by Emporia State (4) and Arkansas-Fort Smith (4), and Northwest Missouri (3), Central Missouri (3) and Fort Hays State (2). Pittsburg State, Missouri Southern and Newman each had one All-MIAA honoree.
 
Central Oklahoma’s Addison Wimmer was crowned the MIAA Player of the Year. The senior outside hitter from Yukon, Okla., has led the Bronchos offense to an MIAA record of 14-2 and 27-2 overall. In her second year in the league, Wimmer was one of the league’s top scorers, averaging 3.83 points per set. In 89 sets played, she led the Bronchos in points (340.5), kills (307) and kills per set (3.45).
 
Two of the league’s top defensive players tied for the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year honor – Missouri Western’s Lily Kurz and Nebraska Kearney’s Alli Wiese. A force at the net, senior middle blocker Lily Kurz was the league’s leading blocker with 134 total blocks and 1.35 blocks per set in the regular season.
 
The league’s top back-row specialist, MIAA coaches named Alli Wiese the Co-Defensive Player of the Year and the Libero of the Year. Wiese collected an MIAA-leading 5.67 digs per set while her 550 total digs ranked second in the league.
 
Nebraska Kearney’s Mia Berg was named the MIAA Hitter of the Year after being the only player to rank in the league’s top ten in both hitting percentage (.326, fifth) and kills per set (3.17, eight). The sophomore middle blocker led the MIAA champion Lopers in points (346.5) and ranked second in the league with 3.89 points per set.
 
Emporia State’s Rayishon Jackman was named the MIAA Freshman of the Year. The first year outside hitter from Taipei, Taiwan was one of the league’s top offensive and defensive players. Jackman’s 324 total kills ranked third in the league while her 362.5 points in the regular season ranked fourth. She also ranked in the league’s top ten with 384 total digs and 3.84 digs per set.
 
Nebraska Kearney head coach Rich Squiers was voted the MIAA Coach of the Year by his peers. In his 26th season leading the Lopers, Squiers led UNK to its seventh MIAA title with just one loss in the regular season. The Lopers led the league in points, kills, assists, hitting percentage and opponent hitting percentage, third in digs and fourth in blocks.
 
Twenty-four players were named to the All-MIAA teams and 18 received Honorable Mention honors. The complete list of the 2024 All-MIAA teams and postseason awards is listed below.
