KANSAS CITY, Mo. –Nebraska Kearney was crowned the MIAA regular season champion of the 2024 volleyball season and claimed the top seed in the league’s postseason tournament. The Lopers are one of eight teams to advance to the 2024 MIAA Volleyball Championship, hosted November 21-23 in St. Joseph’s Civic Arena.
The MIAA’s final regular season volleyball matches concluded on Saturday, November 16, as teams battled to clinch the final seeds into the Association’s postseason volleyball tournament.
Nebraska Kearney clinched the 2024 regular season championship with a 3-2 reverse sweep over Northwest Missouri on Friday, November 15. It's the Lopers’ first regular season crown since 2019 and the program's seventh (two shared and five outright) overall.
Nebraska Kearney finished the regular season 28-1 overall and 15-1 in the MIAA. The Lopers will enter the 2024 championship as the No. 1 seed and face No. 8 seed Fort Hays State (12-13 overall, 4-12 MIAA) in the MIAA quarterfinals.
Missouri Western (22-6 overall, 12-4 MIAA) will be the No. 2 seed in the postseason tournament and will take on No. 7 seeded Central Missouri (11-14 overall, 7-9 MIAA). Central Oklahoma (27-2 overall, 14-2 MIAA) claimed the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 6 seed Emporia State (17-9 overall, 9-7 MIAA). Washburn (20-6 overall, 11-5 MIAA) will be the No. 4 seed and will face No. 5 seed Northwest Missouri (15-11 overall, 9-7 MIAA).
The MIAA quarterfinal matches will begin Thursday, November 21, in St. Joseph’s Civic Arena. The official match times for each quarterfinal contest are listed below. Semifinal matches will follow on Friday, November 22 at 5:00 and 7:30 p.m. The MIAA championship match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23.
