KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its tenth Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week, presented by
Shift Group, for the 2023-24 season.
MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week – Brooke Littrell, Central Missouri
Brooke Littrell has been named the MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week. The redshirt-junior averaged 18.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game as the No. 17-ranked Jennies collected a pair of MIAA road wins at Northeastern Sate and Rogers State. In the 65-51 win over Northeastern State, Littrell finished with 18 points on 54.0 percent shooting (7-of-13) while pulling down eight rebounds. She then allied 18 points again in the 65-37 win at Rogers State, shooting 62.0 percent (8-of-13) with five boards.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Faith Paramore – Emporia State
Faith Paramore averaged a double double of 18.0 points and 11.5 rebounds as the Lady Hornets went 1-1 with a win over nationally ranked Pittsburg State. Paramore scored 16 points with 12 rebounds in the Hornets 71-59 win over the No. 25-ranked Gorillas. The senior then added 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds with three assists in a loss to Missouri Southern.
Molly Hartnett – Northwest Missouri
Molly Hartnett averaged 17.0 points per game as Northwest Missouri split a pair of home games in MIAA action. Hartnett posted a 13-point, two-rebound and two-assist effort in a home loss to Central Oklahoma. She then notched 21 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in a 30-point win over the Newman Jets.
Connie Clarke – Missouri Western
As the Griffons have won three straight, Connie Clarke remains a consistent force the team averaging 13.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game last week. The Griffon senior scored 10 points and snagged seven rebounds in 10 minutes a 108-45 win over Newman, shooting 4-of-5 from the field. Clarke went on to score 17 points, haul in seven more rebounds and dish a game and career-high eight assists in a 73-49 win over Central Oklahoma. Clarke also swiped away an MIAA season-high seven steals in the process, the third-most in MWSU single-game history.
Ryan Franklin – Missouri Southern
Ryan Franklin led the Lions to their ninth straight win at Washburn with a team-high 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting off the bench. Franklin followed up that performance with a defensive masterclass, posting 10 points (5-of-9), six rebounds and six blocks in the Lions 10th straight win on the year defeating Emporia State by 33 points. Franklin shot 63.6 percent on the week and posted such numbers from off the bench, averaging 19.9 minutes per game.
