KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its women’s soccer weekly awards for the second week of contests in the 2023 season.
MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week – Adell Gore, Northwest Missouri
Adell Gore posted six points over the weekend (two goals, two assists), helping the Bearcats to their first wins of the 2023 season. The junior netted the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over No. 15-ranked Augustana and added another goal and two assists in a 4-0 triumph over Sioux Falls. Gore broke a 1-1 tie against Augustana with an unassisted goal with 58:42 into the match. She then assisted on Northwest’s two first-half goals and found the back of the net shortly into the second half to give the Bearcats a 3-0 lead en route to a 4-0 victory over Sioux Falls.
MIAA Defender of the Week – Morgan Martucci, Rogers State
Morgan Martucci led the Hillcats defense to a 1-0-1 week a draw at home against UT Tyler and a win on the road against East Central. Against the Patriots, the junior anchored a defense that held UT Tyler to just seven total shots and five on target with just one goal in the first minute of the game. She also assisted on the Hillcats only goal of the match. Then against the Tigers, Martucci led the RSU defense to its second shutout forcing ECU into 20 shots with 11 on goal. She also assisted on the game winning goal in the 24th minute.
MIAA Goalkeeper of the Week – Isabel Robben, Fort Hays State
Isabel Robben picked up her second and third shutouts of the season in goal as Fort Hays State remained unbeaten on the young season. The senior keeper recorded three saves against both Sioux Falls and No. 15-ranked Augustana. Robben has yielded only one goal in four matches this season and has three straight shutouts going back to last week.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Offensive
Mackinly Rohn – Washburn
Mackinly Rohn tallied four assists and a goal in two matches as the Ichabods collected wins over Southwest Minnesota State and Wayne State. Against Southwest Minnesota, Rohn tied a school record with three assists in the 4-0 win over the Mustangs. The three assists from Rohn tied a school record for most assists in a match for the fourth time in program history and the first time since Tia Stovall had three against Southwest Baptist on Sept. 26, 2009. Later in the weekend, Rohn connected on another assist while scoring her first collegiate goal in the 4-1 win over Wayne State.
Defenders
Reilly Madden – Fort Hays State
Reilly Madden played all 180 minutes in her center back position helping the Tigers to a pair of shutouts this past week at home. The three-time All-MIAA selection and 2022 all-region selection at defender helped the Tiger defense allow only 5.0 shots per match, holding Sioux Falls and No. 15 ranked Augustana to just five shots each. She helped the Tigers produce their third straight shutout going back to last week.
Grace Wineinger – Northwest Missouri
Grace Wineinger played a key role in the defensive approach to Northwest’s two wins over No. 15 Augustana and Sioux Falls. Wineinger helped limit to Augustana to six total shots (three in first half, three in second half) as the Bearcats tallied a 2-1 win over the No. 15-ranked Vikings. Wineinger then added an assist in the 4-0 shutout of Sioux Falls. The Cougars were held to eight shots (two in the first half, six in the second half).
Goalkeepers
Ali Day – Rogers State
Ali Day led the Hillcats to a 4-0 win over East Central on the road. The junior earned her first shutout of the season, making 11 saves on 20 shots faced.
Rebbeca Partyka – Northeastern State
Rebbeca Partyka didn’t allow a goal in Northeastern State’s two matches last week while collecting three saves overall. The sophomore made a critical stop in the final two minutes of the RiverHawks match against Northwestern Oklahoma to preserve a scoreless draw.
