Bearcat Women Capture First MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Title In 24 Years

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Northwest Missouri captured the championship title at the 2023 MIAA Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship, hosted by Lincoln University May 5-7 in the state capital.
 
The women of Northwest Missouri were crowned MIAA Outdoor Championships after totaling 137 points at the 2023 championship. The title is the Bearcats third in program history – Northwest also won the Association’s outdoor championship in 1997 and 1998.
 
Northwest totaled four individual titles and one relay title. Luisarys Toledo captured two of the Bearcats’ individual crowns in winning the 400-meter dash and the long jump to be named the women’s high point scorer of the 2023 championship.
 
Pittsburg State was the runner-up of the MIAA outdoor championship with 133.5 team points. Fort Hays State placed third with 108 points while Lincoln finished fourth with 85 points and Missouri Southern placed fifth with 84 points. Central Missouri concluded the championship’s top-six with 82.50 points.
 
Below is a list of the final women’s team standings and top-three finishers from each event. Student-athletes who claimed individual titles earned First Team All-MIAA honors while those who placed second earned Second Team honors and third place finishers earned Third Team All-MIAA honors.
