MIAA Announces Track & Field Academic Awards For 2023 Outdoor Season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its men's and women's track and field Academic Awards for the 2023 outdoor season. All 12 women's teams and all 11 men's teams were represented for the student-athletes' hard work in the classroom.

The prestigious MIAA Academic Excellence Award was achieved by 53 student-athletes (35 women, 18 men) competing in outdoor track and field. An MIAA Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The Scholar-Athlete distinction went to 48 student-athletes (35 women, 13 men) who excelled in the classroom and on the track. A Scholar-Athlete is an individual that has a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 or better at the certifying member institution. They must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors with a top-three finish in their event at the Association's 2023 Outdoor Track and Field Championship. To view the complete list of the MIAA's 35 women's outdoor track and field Scholar-Athletes, click here. In the Academic Honor Roll category, 436 student-athletes (226 women, 210 men) were recognized. To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 or above at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.
