KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced the seeds and pairings for its 2023 postseason softball championship.
Eight teams advance to the 2023 MIAA Softball Championship, set for May 3-6 at the
Envista Softball Complex in Topeka, Kan. The double-elimination tournament will be played on two fields beginning Wednesday, May 3 and will move to a single field for the remaining games May 4-6.
Central Oklahoma tabbed it’s fifth MIAA regular season title in the last 10 years (2023, 2021, 2019, 2017 and 2013). The Bronchos finished with a record of 23-3 against MIAA opponents to be crowned the Association’s regular season champions and claimed the top seed in the postseason tournament.
The No. 1 Bronchos will take on No. 8 seed Fort Hays State in game one set for 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3. Fort Hays State finished 13-13 against league competition.
Missouri Southern clinched the No. 2 seed in with a runner-up finish in the regular season standings. The Lions own a league record of 21-5 and will face No. 7 seed Emporia State at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3. The Hornets also finished 13-13 in the MIAA and earned the higher seed over FHSU passed on the Association’s tiebreaker protocol.
Rogers State, the defending NCAA Division II National Champion, earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament with a league record of 18-8. The Hillcats are set to face No. 6 seed Missouri Western in a 5:30 p.m. game on Wednesday, May 3. The Griffons tabbed the No. 6 seed after going 14-12 in MIAA doubleheaders.
Central Missouri finished with a record of 16-10 against league competition to claim the No. 4 seed into the postseason tournament. The Jennies take on No. 5-seeded Washburn at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3. The Ichabods went 15-11 against MIAA opponents.

The champion crowned will earn the Association’s automatic qualifier into the NCAA Central Region Championship, set for May 11-13.
