KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its men’s track and field preseason coaches poll for the 2023 outdoor season.
Pittsburg State, defending national champions and two-time defending MIAA outdoor track and field champions, were unanimously picked to finish at the top of the league again this season. The Gorillas totaled 11 first place votes and 100 points in the poll. Pittsburg State also took home the title at the 2023 MIAA indoor championships and went on to become the 2023 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field National Champions.
Missouri Southern, the defending MIAA outdoor championship runner-up, was selected second in the poll with 91 points and the remaining first place vote. Nebraska Kearney was tabbed third with 74 points, followed by Fort Hays State in fourth with 68 points. Central Missouri rounded out the top-five with 63 points.
Northwest Missouri finished sixth with 56 points, Lincoln was slated seventh with 46 points and Washburn was picked eighth with 41 points. Missouri Western totaled 25 points to finish in ninth while Emporia State was just two points behind the Griffons in 10th with 23 points. Rogers State concluded the poll in 11th.
Voting on the polls is conducted among all 11 MIAA men’s track and field head coaches.

The 2023 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 5-7, hosted by Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo.
