Twenty-One MIAA Wrestlers Advance to NCAA Division II Nationals

EDMOND, Okla. – All five MIAA wrestling programs will be represented at the 2023 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships March 10-11 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
 
The MIAA had 21 student-athletes advanced to the 2023 Division II Wrestling Championships after their performances in the Super Regionals. MIAA teams were split into two NCAA Super Regional Championships – Super Region IV and Super Region VI. The top-three placers at each weight class advanced on to the national championships.
 
Top-ranked Central Oklahoma took home the team title at the Super Regional IV Tournament, hosted by the Bronchos in Hamilton Field House. The Bronchos crowned seven regional champions, had two regional runners-up and one third-place qualifier to send all 10 weight classes to nationals for the first time since 2007.
 
Also competing in the Super Region IV was Central Missouri and Newman. The Mules finished sixth out of 11 teams and will send two individuals to the national stage. Newman placed seventh in the regional and had one advancing wrestler for the first time since the 2020-21 season.
 
Fifth-ranked Nebraska Kearney claimed a runner-up finish at the Super Region VI Tournament, hosted by Chardon State in Chardon, Neb. The Lopers tabbed three regional champions and three third place qualifiers to send six total to Cedar Rapids.
 
Fort Hays State also traveled to Chardon for the Super Region VI Tournament. The Tigers placed seventh out of 11 teams and advance two wrestlers to the national tournament.
