2023 AVCA/D2 CCA Volleyball All-America Teams Announced

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association both announced their All-America Volleyball Teams. A trio of MIAA student-athletes earned All-America honors and four other were named Honorable Mention selections for the 2023 season.
 
The American Volleyball Coaches Association’s (AVCA) 2023 All-America class includes 42 Divisison II student-athletes – 14 on the first, second and third teams – from 28 schools. The Association also honored 106 student-athletes as Honorable Mention selections.
 
A total of 21 student-athletes from 18 institutions were represented on the Division II Conference Commissioners Association’s (D2 CCA) three 2023 All-American Teams.
 
Central Missouri’s Olivia Olson and Central Oklahoma’s Jaedynn Evans were both named Second Team All-America sections from the AVCA. Evans was the MIAA’s only two-time All-America selection in the 2023 season, also being named a First Team All-America selection from the D2 CAA. Emporia State’s Sandora Sasaki joined Evans on the D2 CAA All-America Team as a Third Team Selection.
 
Evans, the 2023 MIAA Defensive Player of the Year, has been named a two-time All-American for the second consecutive season. A junior from Kalona, Iowa, Evans led the nation in digs per set for the second year in a row and ranked fifth in digs among all NCAA divisions. She totaled 640 digs, averaging 6.40 digs per set.
 
Olson, the 2023 MIAA Player and Setter of the Year from Malone, Wisc. ended the season with a team-high 18 double-double performances including 1,350 assists to lead the MIAA and rank sixth in Division II. Olson averaged 10.80 assists per set while collecting the second most digs for the Jennies with 323. She also recorded the third-most blocks on the team with 96.
 
Sasaki, a unanimous First Team All-MIAA selection, led the MIAA with 503 kills and set an Emporia State single season record 4.84 kills per set average. Sasaki ranks third in the nation in kills per set and sixth in points per set. She was the only player in Division II with at least 25 kills in three different four set matches during this regular season.
 
Central Missouri’s Elinor Engel and Kersti Nix, and Nebraska Kearney’s Jaden Ferguson and Peyton Neff were all named Honorable Mention selections on the AVCA All-America Teams.

The AVCA’s 2023 All-America selections were made by the AVCA Division II All-America Committee while Sports Information Directors from NCAA Division II schools and conferences sponsoring women's volleyball selected the D2 CCA All-America Team.
