WACO, Texas – The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) annoucned its regional Coach of the Year awards naming University of Central Missouri Mules Football Head Coach Josh Lamberson the 2023 NCAA Division II Super Region Three Coach of the Year. 
 
Also named the 2023 MIAA Coach of the Year, Josh Lamberson earned his first AFCA Regional Coach of the Year honor after leading the Mules to an overall record of 11-2 and a MIAA Championship at 9-1 in just his second season as head coach at Central Missouri in 2023.

The 11 victories tied the program record for wins while the MIAA title was the 14th in school history. UCM advanced to the second round of the NCAA-II Playoffs, marking the fifth playoff appearance in program lore and the first since 2019.
 
Lamberson will be honored on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at the AFCA Convention in Nashville, Tenn.

Lamberson, along with the other winners of the Regional Coach of the Year awards, are selected by members of the AFCA who vote for coaches in the respective regions and divisions.
