KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced an update of its 2023-24 Commissioner’s Cup Standings following the fall sport seasons.

McCownGordon Construction, the MIAA Commissioner's Cup is this Association’s all-sports award presented at the end of each academic year to the league’s top performing school in conference play.
Through the 2023 fall sport seasons, Pittsburg State leads the standings with an 11.9 points per sport average. Central Missouri sits in second with an 11.0 fall point average, followed by Northwest Missouri in third with a 9.5 point average and Washburn in fourth with a 9.4 average. Fort Hays State and Missouri Western are tied for fifth in the current standings with an 8.4 points per sport average.
The Gorillas captured three MIAA regular season titles this fall. Both Pitt State cross country programs were crowned champions at the men’s and women’s cross country championships. The Gorillas football teams also captured a share of the 2023 MIAA football championship with a league record of 9-1.
Central Missouri was crowned an MIAA champion twice this fall. Mules football also went 9-1 in the 2023 season to join Pitt State in a share of the conference title. The Jennies captured the MIAA volleyball regular season championship with an impressive league record of 18-2. Jennies soccer also boosted UCM with a second-place finish in the league.
The Bearcats had three top-five finishes this fall. Northwest Missouri’s men’s cross country team led with a third-place finish at the MIAA championships while the women’s soccer team placed fourth in the regular season standings and Bearcat football finished in a tie for fifth.
Washburn also recorded three top-five finishes in the MIAA this fall, highlighted by the Ichabod women’s soccer team capturing the MIAA regular season title for the first time since 2006. Washburn’s men’s cross country team was the runner-up of the 2023 championship and Ichabod volleyball earned a fifth-place finish in the MIAA regular season.

The Commissioner’s Cup point system reflects the finish of each team in conference play. The number of points awarded per sport is based on the number of schools that participate in that particular sport. Each institution’s grand point total is then divided by the athletic programs it sponsors, giving an overall average finish for the school.
