Eight teams advanced to the 2023 postseason tournament which kicks off on MIAA campuses Friday, November 3. Central Oklahoma’s Kassidy Collins was selected as the championship’s “A Game” Scholar Athlete, presented by Mammoth.

Established by the MIAA in 2022, the Mammoth “A Game” Scholar Athlete Award acknowledges the overall excellence of a student-athlete by recognizing one individual who has contributed to their team’s success, while also achieving the highest academic standard among peers. The student-athlete honored with the “A Game” Scholar Athlete Award must be an active member on a qualifying team and must have a minimum of two-terms completed at the institution.

Kassidy Collins is a junior defender on Central Oklahoma’s women’s soccer team. From Owasso, Okla., Collins owns a perfect 4.0 grade point average as a biology major with 105 course credits completed.

On the pitch, the Bronchos starting defender has had equal success as a MIAA Honorable Mention selection this season. The now three-time All-MIAA honoree (Second Team in 2021, Honorable Mention in 2022) started all 18 matches and leads the team with 1,504 minutes played. In the Bronchos regular season finale, Collins helped the defense to their sixth shutout of the season and scored a goal in a tournament-clinching match to be voted the Association’s Defensive Player of the Week.

Collins will be honored with the MIAA “A Game” trophy, presented by Mammoth, prior to kick-off of the MIAA quarterfinal match between the No. 7-seeded Bronchos and No. 8-seeded Jennies. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. at Central Missouri’s South Recreation Complex in Warrensburg, Mo.
