WEEK EIGHT: MIAA Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its women’s soccer weekly awards for the eighth week of contests in the 2023 season.
 
MIAA Offensive Athlete of the Week – Mackenzie Dimarco, Emporia State        
Mackenzie Dimarco scored all four goals in Emporia State’s 4-2 win over Newman. The forward’s first three goals all came in the first 34 minutes of the match with her final goal falling within the first six minutes of the second half. Dimarco finished the weekend with four goals for eight points, eight shots and six shots on goal. She continues to increase her career goals mark and MIAA record to 75 goals in 82 career matches.
 
MIAA Defender of the Week – Moira Franck, Northwest Missouri       
Moira Franck was a defensive force in helping Northwest Missouri record a pair of shutout road wins over Northeastern State and Rogers State. Franck played all 180 minutes of action in Tahlequah and Claremore. The Bearcats limited the RiverHawks to 16 shots (11 on-goal), while Rogers State was held to 15 shots (11 on-goal).
 
MIAA Goalkeeper of the Week – Lily Ellis, Northwest Missouri    
Lily Ellis added two more shutouts as Northwest tallied its fourth consecutive clean sheet victory in MIAA play. Ellis made 22 total saves in the two wins at Northeastern State and Rogers State. The sophomore keeper tallied 11 saves in the 2-0 win over the RiverHawks. She then added 11 more saves in the 1-0 victory over the Hillcats. Ellis has recorded a school record 19 career shutouts with six of them coming this season.
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Offensive
Caroline Cole – Central Missouri
Caroline Cole netted a hat trick in the Jennies 5-0 shutout win over Nebraska Kearney. The redshirt junior scored goals in the fifth, 19th and 56th minutes of the league contest. She became the 19th Jenny in program history to tally a hat trick. Cole then had the game-winning assist on Aspen Patterson’s game-winner in the 48th-minute in UCM’s 3-0 win over Fort Hays State. On the week, Cole posted three goals, one assist, seven points and a .833 shot on goal percentage.
 
Kaylie Rock – Northwest Missouri
Kaylie Rock recorded her team-leading fourth game-winning goal in the Bearcats 2-0 win over Northeastern State. Rock posted two goals against the RiverHawks to give her a team-best nine goals in 2023. It was her second multi-goal match of the season. She also added three shots in Northwest’s 1-0 win over Rogers State.
 
Defenders
Lauren Nylund – Missouri Western
Helping her Griffons defense notch a 2-0 shutout over Rogers State, Lauren Nylund went on to be a key piece of the offense in a 4-2 loss at Northeastern State. The junior notched a goal and an assist in the contest, scoring three points overall. Nylund also played all 180 minutes over the weekend, extending her full-time streak to three games.
 
Goalkeepers
Kristen Wright – Central Missouri
Kristen Wright compiled a pair of shutout wins between the posts for the Jennies. In UCM’s 5-0 thumping of Nebraska Kearney, Wright went 66 minutes in goal gave up no goals. She then tallied five saves in the full 90 minutes while surrendering zero goals in Central Missouri’s 3-0 triumph over Fort Hays State. On the week, the freshman keeper allowed no goals while making five saves for a 0.00 GAA and 1.000 save percentage in 156:02 minutes of action.
