KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Nine MIAA softball student-athletes earned All-Regions honors from the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
The Association received eight D2CCA All-Central Region selections and seven NFCA All-Central Region honors.
Central Oklahoma’s Jacee Minter, Rogers State’s Andrea Morales and Washburn’s Marrit Mead and Jaycee Ginter were each named First Team All-Central Region selections by both the D2CCA and the NFCA. Those four student-athletes will advance to the All-America ballots for both organizations along with first-team selections from the other seven regions.
Minter, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., was one of three outfield first team selections by both the D2CCA and NFCA. Minter leads the Bronchos offense with a .414 batting average, 77 hits, 24 doubles, 12 home runs and 69 RBI with an impressive .758 slugging percentage. She also earned First Team All-MIAA honors this season.
Morales, a senior from El Paso, Texas, was one of three first team pitchers honored by the D2CCA and NFCA. Morales is 31-4 in the circle for the Hillcats this season. In 236.2 innings pitched, Morales has allowed 133 hits and just 39 runs scored with a league-high 321 strikeouts to post an ERA of 1.09. Morales was also named the Association’s 2022 Pitcher of the Year and the Most Outstanding Player of the 2022 MIAA Championship.
Mead, a sophomore from Overbook, Kan., was the lone first team third baseman by both the D2CCA and NFCA. Mead was one of the top hitters in the nation with 84 hits on the year. She posted a .404 batting average with 23 doubles and 40 RBI while also leading the Ichabods with 22 stolen bases. Mead was also the MIAA’s First Team third baseman selection.
Ginter, a sophomore form Berryton, Kan., was the lone first team utility/pitcher honored by the D2CCA and NFCA. Ginter lead Washburn’s pitching staff with a 1.76 ERA in 234.1 innings pitched while also leading the Ichabod offense with 57 RBI. She was honored as the 2022 MIAA Player of the Year for her performance at the plate and in the circle this season.
Central Oklahoma’s Kylee Lynch and Pittsburg State’s Taylor Lambert both earned second team honors by the D2CCA and the NFCA. Brighton Gilbert of UCO and Carlee Liesch of Nebraska Kearney earned second team honors from the D2CCA while Washburn’s Paige Robbins earned second team honors from the NFCA.
