Ichabods and Mules Compete for 2022 MIAA Baseball Tournament Title

EDMOND, Okla. – The stage is set for the 2022 MIAA Baseball Championship game, presented by Mammoth Turf. Washburn and Central Missouri will complete for the title on Saturday, May 14 at noon.
 
The Ichabods and Mules will battle for the 2022 Baseball Championship Title. Central Missouri looks to clinch its fourth consecutive MIAA tournament championship while Washburn is competing for its first ever tournament title.
 
Washburn is the only team without a loss in the 2022 MIAA Baseball Championship and the first time to advance to the tournament’s finale. The fifth-seeded Ichabdos upset the top-seed Central Missouri 15-13 in the opening round of the tournament in a nearly four-hour game that went hit-for-hit and run-for-run. After taking down the Mules, Washburn earned its second upset of the championship as the Ichabods defeated No. 2 seed Northeastern State with a 8-5 victory to being the second round of the winner’s bracket Friday, May 13. Following the Ichabods win over NSU, the Mules ended Pittsburg State’s time in the tournament 15-4 win over the Gorillas Friday afternoon. Central Missouri totaled a championship-high 19 hits on the way to the victory. To see the official box score of the PSU verse UCM meeting, click here.
 
Central Missouri’s win sent the Mules to battle for the final stop in the championship game against the RiverHawks. The Mules out-hit NSU 14-7 and finishing the game in seven innings with a 12-2 victory. To see the official box score of UCM’s win over the RiverHawks, click here.
 
The first pitch of the 2022 MIAA Championship Game is scheduled for 12:05 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 at the University of Central Oklahoma’s Wendell Simmons Field in Edmond, Okla. The game will be streamed live on the MIAA Network.
