Bracket and Pairings Set for 2022 MIAA Baseball Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA announced the official bracket and pairings for the 2022 Baseball Championship. The tournament, presented by Mammoth Turf, will begin May 6-8 on campus sites with advancing teams meeting in Edmond, Okla. May 12-15 on Central Oklahoma’s Wendell Simmons Field.
 
The 2022 MIAA regular season champions Central Missouri clinched the top seed in the tournament, owning a league-best record of 30-3 in the MIAA and 37-6 overall. This is UCM’s third consecutive regular season title.
 
The Mules will host No. 8 seed Emporia State in Warrensburg for a best-of-three series May 6-8. The first game of the series will begin at 6 p.m. Friday with game two set for 2 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday’s if necessary game will begin at 1 p.m. The Hornets finished the season with a 13-20 record against MIAA opponents while finishing 21-29 overall.
 
Northeastern State claimed the No. 2 seed in the tournament and will host No. 7 Rogers State in a best-of-three series. Friday night’s game is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Tahlequah, Okla. Game two of the series will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday with the if necessary game three game set for 1 p.m. Sunday. The RiverHawks owned a league record of 22-11 and 34-14 overall while the Hillcats finished 17-16 in the MIAA and 23-23 overall.
 
Pittsburg State also went 22-11 in the league and 29-18 overall to tab the No. 3 seed. The Gorillas will host No. 6 seed Missouri Southern in Pittsburg, Kan. with game times set for 6 p.m., 3 p.m. and 1 p.m. May 6-8. The Lions posted a MIAA record of 17-16 while finishing the season 28-21 overall.
 
The championship’s final campus location will be in Edmond, Okla. as No. 4 seeded Central Oklahoma hosts No. 5 seed Washburn. Game one in Edmond is scheduled for 6 p.m. with Saturday’s game beginning at 3 p.m. and the if necessary game set for 1 p.m. on Sunday. The Bronchos post a league record of 20-13 and 29-19 overall while the Ichabods finished 19-14 against MIAA opponents and finished 29-18 overall.
 
The best-of-three series winners will advance to Edmond for championship semifinals on May 12. Four teams will compete in a double-elimination tournament with the championship title game set for Saturday, May 14 at noon.
 
The tournament’s champion will receive the Association’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Central Region Championship May 19-21.
