KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA announced its 2022 Women’s Golf postseason awards and All-MIAA teams. Central Oklahoma’s Susana Olivares was named the MIAA Golfer of the Year, Rogers State’s Lydia Sitorus was named the MIAA Freshman of the Year and the Hillcats Head Coach Whitney Hocutt was voted the MIAA Coach of the Year.
This is Susana Olivares’s second consecutive MIAA postseason honor after being named the Association’s Freshman of the Year last season. A sophomore from Guadalajara Jalisco, Mexico, Olivares owns a league-best 73.74 scoring average. She’s placed in the top-12 in eight of nine tournaments this season with five top-five finishes. Olivares will be defending her our title at the 2022 MIAA Women’s Golf Championship after winning the last year’s tournament with a four-stroke lead.
Lydia Sitorus led all MIAA newcomers this season with a scoring average of 75.66. Her average also ranked fourth among all MIAA golfers, earning Sitorus First Team All-MIAA honors as well. The first year from Bitung, Indonesia completed in 10 tournaments this season, placing in the top-10 in all but two events. She finished 13th and 17th in the others. Sitorus was also one of just six MIAA golfers to win an individual title this season.
In her fifth year leading the Hillcats, Rogers State Head Coach Whitney Hocutt has been voted by her peers as the Association’s Coach of the Year for the second straight season. Hocutt has led the Hillcats to a league-high six team titles this season and a current No. 1 ranking in the Central Region. Rogers State’s worst finish in its 10 tournaments this season was sixth. Hocutt looks to secure the program’s first MIAA women’s golf championship after placing in the top-three last season.
The 2022 MIAA Women’s Golf Championship is set to begin Thursday, April 21 at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan. The three day, 54-hole championship will conclude on Saturday, April 23. For more tournament information, visit the
