INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – Rogers State currently leads the field at the 2022 MIAA Men’s Golf Championship after two rounds from the WinterStone Golf Course in Independence, Mo.
Due to inclement weather predicted in the forecast, both first and second rounds of the championship were played on Monday, April 18, with the third and final round moved up to Tuesday, April 19. Opening day was sunny but chilly with northwest winds up to 15-20 mph.

Through the completion of 36 holes, Rogers State currently leads the team standings at +4, 580. The Hillcats fired round lows in both the first and second rounds with a +4, 292 through round one and an even 288 in round two.
Nine strokes behind the HIllcats is Missouri Southern sitting in second at +13, 589 (295, 294) while Central Oklahoma is currently third with a two-round total of +21, 597 (295, 302). Close behind the Bronchos is Northeastern State (305, 293) and Central Missouri (303, 295) in a tie for fourth at +22, 598.
Missouri Western tied RSU’s first-round low of +4, 292, then shot +22, 310 in round two for day one score of +26, 602 which is good for sixth. Washburn is seventh at +30, 606 (309, 297), Fort Hays State is in eighth with +39, 615 (312, 303), Lincoln is in ninth at +70, 646 (321, 325) and Newman rounds out the group with +80, 656 (327, 329).
Rogers State’s Adian Gavey (71, 72) and Central Oklahoma’s Caleb Kimmel (70, 73) each lead the individual standings through day one with 36-hole totals of -1, 143. Kimmel’s two-under par performance in the opening round is currently tied as the championship’s single-row low.
Central Missouri’s Matt Hoemann sits in second with an even 144 (73, 71) while NSU’s Brayden Strickland (75, 70), MSSU’s Tradgon McCrae (74, 71) and RSU’s Daniel Robles (73, 72) are tied in fourth at +1, 145. The MIAA designated standings leader, Rogers State’s Luke Palmowski, is currently in a three-way tie for seventh with Missouri Western’s Tom Buffington and MSSU’s Alexander Page with round-round totals of +2, 146. Washburn’s Dawson Wills closes out the current top-10 at +3, 147 (72, 75).
The final round of the 2022 MIAA Men’s Golf Championship will begin Tuesday, April 19 at 10 a.m. Teams in the top-six will tee off of hole one with the rest teeing off at hole 10. The 2022 MIAA postseason awards will be announced after the conclusion of the championship.
