Bracket, Pairings Set For 2022 MIAA Women’s Basketball Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA has announced its women’s bracket and pairings for the 2022 MIAA Basketball Championships presented by Citizens Bank & Trust. Opening round games tip-off at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2 at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri.

Missouri Southern (19-3) earned the tournament’s top seed after clinching a share of the regular-season championship for the first time in program history. The Lions will play the winner of No.8 Pittsburg State (11-11) and No.9 Washburn (11-11). The Gorillas and Ichabods will play the first game of the tournament on Wednesday, March 2 at 12 p.m. with the winner advancing to play MSSU on Thursday, March 3 at 12 p.m.

The Lions share the 2022 title with defending regular season champions, Fort Hays State (19-3). It was FHSU’s second consecutive regular season title and fourth in the last eight seasons. The Tigers draw the winner of No.7 Central Oklahoma (12-10) and No.10 Emporia State (10-12). The Bronchos and Hornets tip-off on Wednesday, March 2 at 2:15 p.m. with the winner facing FHSU on Thursday, March 3 at 2:15 p.m.

The third seed went to Nebraska Kearney (17-5) who will play sixth-seed Northwest Missouri (12-10) on Friday, March 4 at 2:15 p.m. Central Missouri (15-7) claimed the fourth-seed and will take on fifth-seed Missouri Western (14-8) at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 4.
