2022-2023 MIAA Commissioner's Cup Update

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association released the current standings of the 2022-2023 MIAA Commissioner’s Cup, presented by McCownGordon Construction.
 
Through the completion of the 2022 fall sport seasons, Pittsburg State currently leads the MIAA Commissioner’s Cup standings with a fall average score of 12.5. Northwest Missouri is currently second in the standings with an average score of 11.9 and Nebraska Kearney is third with an average score of 10.3.
 
The Gorillas were crowned MIAA champions in football and women’s cross country this season. The Pitt State football team finished its 2022 season with a flawless 11-0 record against MIAA opponents to secure its first league title since 2014. The PSU women’s cross country team took home the team title at the 2022 championships, winning the women’s 6k race by 16 points.
 
Also contributing the Gorillas’ fall success was the men’s cross country team with a third place at the 2022 championships while the Gorillas volleyball team finished sixth in MIAA standings.
 
Northwest Missouri had four of its five fall teams finish their seasons in the top-three of the final MIAA standings. Northwest volleyball highlighted the Bearcats fall seasons after capturing its first-ever MIAA regular season title, going 17-3 in league competition. The Bearcat football team finished second in the league with a record of 9-2 while the Northwest women’s soccer team concluded regular season play in a tie for second with a record of 8-3, compiling 24 conference points. The women of Bearcat cross country secured a third-place finish at the MIAA Championships while the Bearcat men placed seventh.
 
Nebraska Kearney’s cross country squads both placed second at the 2022 MIAA Championships to boost the Lopers’ fall average in the Commissioner’s Cup standings. The UNK volleyball team also finished second in the regular season standings with a record of 16-4 while the Lopers football team ended the season in a tie for third, sharing an 8-3 record with Emporia State.
