INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Committee has announced the participants for the 2022 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships.
Thirty-four women's teams and 27 individuals will join 29 mens teams and 26 individuals in University Place, Washington to compete in the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships. Seven MIAA teams (three women's, four men's) and two individuals advance to the national championships, set for Friday, December 2 in Washington.
In Division II, the top three teams in each of eight regional championship receive automatic bids to the NCAA's with 10 additional spots up for grabs. The additional advancing teams were announced during the NCAA Division II Cross Country selection show on Monday night, November 21.
On the women’s side, Pittsburg State automatically qualified for the national championships with a runner-up finish in the Central Region Championships last Saturday, Nov. 19. Nebraska Kearney and Northwest Missouri received two of the 10 at-large berths to the national championships.
Fort Hays State’s Regan Hodsden earned the MIAA’s lone individual at-large berth on the women’s side. She placed 15th at the regional meet.
Four MIAA men’s teams and two additional student-athletes will travel to Washington to compete in the national championships. Missouri Southern and Nebraska Kearney automatically qualified for the national meet with a first and second place finish at the Central Region Championship. Pittsburg State and Washburn earned two of the 10 at-large berths on the men’s side.
Central Missouri’s Paul Korir received the MIAA’s only individual at-large berth on the men’s side. He placed 11th at the Central Region Championships.
The men will run at 10k at 12:00 p.m. (CST) on Dec. 2 with the women's 6k race set for 1:15 p.m. (CST) from Chambers Creek Regional Park. Seattle Pacific is hosting the "
Fall Festival" Dec. 1-3.
