Western’s Kylie Mathis Named Women’s Soccer Championship “A Game” Scholar

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri Western’s Kylie Mathis has been named the first-ever MIAA women’s soccer “A Game” Scholar award winner.

14938The “A Game” Scholar Award, presented by Mammoth Sports Construction and established by the MIAA, acknowledges the overall excellence of the student-athlete by recognizing one individual who has contributed to his or her team’s success, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.

Kylie Mathis is a junior midfielder from Lee’s Summit, Mo. A double major in accounting and fiancae, Mathis owns a 4.0 grade point average with 99 credits completed

Mathis has appeared in 13 games for the Griffons this season with six starts, averaging about 43 minutes per game. She’s taken three shots this season, all falling on goal for a 1.000 shot on goal percentage.

Missouri Western went 5-9-4 overall and 3-6-2 in league competition to clinch in final seed in the MIAA Championship Tournament.

Mathis will be honored with the MIAA “A Game” trophy, presented by Mammoth Sports Construction, prior to kick off of Western’s quarterfinal match against top-seeded Central Missouri. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in Warrensburg, Mo. on Sunday, October 30.
