Pittsburg State Tops the 2021 Women's Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Four teams received first place votes in the 2021 MIAA Women's Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll but the reigning MIAA Champion Pittsburg State was selected as the league's favorite with six first place votes and 128 total points. 

Central Missouri claimed the second spot with 121 points and two first place votes. Missouri Southern didn't receive any first place votes but totaled 116 points to finish third in the poll while Washburn was selected fourth with 112 points and four first place nods. Nebraska Kearney closed out the top five on the poll with 108 points and one first place vote. 

Northwest Missouri totaled 95 points to rank sixth in the poll. Fort Hays State was selected seventh with 84 points, Missouri Western is eighth on the poll with 69 points, Emporia State was picked ninth with 55 points, and Central Oklahoma claimed the 10 spot with 36 points. Lincoln was tabbed 11th with 35 points, Rogers State is ranked 12th with 32 points, and Newman concludes the poll with 23 points. 

The 2021 MIAA cross country season is set to begin Friday and Saturday, Sept. 3-4. All roads lead to the 2021 MIAA Cross Country Championships, which is slated for Saturday, Oct. 23, at Kearney Country Club in Kearney, Nebraska.
