KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Having won the MIAA Cross Country Championships the past two season, Missouri Southern was selected as the league favorite in the 2021 MIAA Men's Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll with the majority first place votes and 100 total points.
Northwest Missouri was picked second with 87 points and Nebraska Kearney tabbed the third spot on the poll with 79 points. Pittsburg State earned the remaining first place vote and totaled 69 points to rank fourth while Central Missouri rounded out the top five with 60 points.
Fort Hays State was tabbed sixth with 59 points, Washburn was selected seventh with 40 points, and Emporia State came in eighth with 38 points. Missouri Western was picked ninth with a total of 33 points while Rogers State totaled 30 points to rank 10th. Newman concluded the poll in 11th with 10 points.
The 2021 MIAA cross country season is set to begin Friday and Saturday, Sept. 3-4. All roads lead to the 2021 MIAA Cross Country Championships, which is slated for Saturday, Oct. 23, at Kearney Country Club in Kearney, Nebraska.
