UCO Leads After Day 1 of MIAA Women's Golf Championship

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Central Oklahoma leads after Day 1 of the 2021 MIAA Women's Golf Championship from Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville, Okla. The Bronchos held a nine-stroke edge after the first round and finished 36 holes with a 36-over par 612 (302-310). Eleven teams competing for the championship got two rounds in today as Friday's weather forecast is expecting showers. As of now, tee time for the final round is scheduled for 8 a.m. tomorrow.

Rogers State stands in second heading into the final round, posting a 623 (311-312), which is 11 strokes behind UCO. Central Missouri holds the third position with a 626 (322-304).


Individually, MIAA Freshman of the Year Susana Olivares of Central Oklahoma carded an even-par 72 to tie for first with Rogers State's Mariana Flores after the first round. After Day One, Olivares stands second overall with a 146 (72-74). She is joined by teammate Sydney Roberts (5th, 78-76=154) in the top-five.

Flores holds the slim individual lead after two rounds with a one-over par 145 (72-73).

The MIAA team champion will automatically qualify for the NCAA Central Regional, May 3-5 at the St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Mo. The NCAA Championship selection will take place on Monday, April 26 on NCAA.com.

The 2021 MIAA Women's Golf All-Championship Team will be announced immediately following the event.
