KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Feb. 9, 2021) - The MIAA announced its fifth wrestling athlete of the week award for the 2020-21 season. This week's winner is Matt Malcom from Nebraska-Kearney.
Ranked No. 2 at 165 pounds, Malcom helped No. 2 UNK beat No. 24 Newman, 42-0, Thursday in Wichita. He moved to 9-0 on the year with a 5-0 decision over third-ranked Kameron Frame. He used a takedown and 2-near fall points in the second to record the win. Malcom, with one fall to date, has now outscored his competition 110- 12.

Frame, the #3 wrestler at 165, would go 1-1 on the week losing a 5-0 decision to #2 ranked Matt Malcom of UNK on Friday before turning around and defeating UCMs Austin Morgan via a third period tech fall 17-2.
John Ridle - Central Missouri
Ridle went 3-0 last week and led the Mules with 12 points. At 157 pounds, Ridle recorded a 3-2 decision win against Lindenwood, a 16-0 tech fall in the 1st period against Kentucky Wesleyan, and a 13-0 major decision win over Newman’s Kendall Frame. Ridle is still undefeated this season with a 9-0 record.
