KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Jan. 19, 2021) - The MIAA announced its second wrestling athlete of the week for the 2020-21 season. This week’s honor went to Central Oklahoma senior Wyatt Jordan.
Jordan returned to the mat after sitting out the 2019-20 season in dominating fashion as No. 3-ranked UCO opened the season with three duals. The senior 174-pounder didnt allow a point in going 3-0, scoring a 27-second fall against Emmanuel, a 19-0 technical fall against Ouachita Baptist and a 10-0 major decision against Newman. The Bronchos won all three duals by a combined 133-5.
Notable Performances
Kameron Frame - Newman
Frame was the only Jet to win both of his matches last week in the Jet Duals. He scored the only points for Newman in their loss to Central Oklahoma with a 18-0 tech fall. He also earned a first period fall less than 50 seconds into his match against Emmanuel. Frame is now 3-1 on the season with two tech falls and a fall.
Mason Turner - Fort Hays State
Turner, the second-ranked wrestler in the country at 125 pounds, finished last week 2-0 while competing at 133 pounds. He opened the week with an 8-6 sudden victory decision at Colorado School of Mines on Thursday (Jan. 14) before recording a pin in just 1:33 against Emmanuel College Sunday (Jan. 17).
