Lincoln Women's Track and Field Repeats As National Champions

LU Wins MIAA's 44th National Title, LU Men Top Finisher At 7th Place

KINGSVILLE, Texas - Lincoln University won its second straight women’s track and field national championship on Saturday, May 25. The Blue Tigers scored 64 points and bested Adams State by 10 points for the fifth women’s track and field national title in the last six seasons by an MIAA member institution. The championship won by Lincoln is also the 44th national title won in the Association.

LU finished the meet with five individual national champions. The Blue Tigers took golds in the 4x100 meter relay, 4x400 meter relay, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and 400-meter dash. Missouri Southern finished sixth as a team with 41 points and one individual national champion by Morgan Ash in the javelin. Pittsburg State was eighth and had two individual national champions from Haven Lander in the pole vault and Courtney Smith in the 100-meter hurdles.

For the men’s team standings, Lincoln finished in seventh place. Fort Hays State’s Brett Meyer claimed the national championship in the 1,500-meter run. The MIAA had six events where it placed at least one male student-athlete in the top three.
