MIAA Announces Academic Honor Roll, Academic Awards for Freshmen, Newcomers

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The MIAA has released the Academic Honor Roll for the 2017-18 Academic Year. Along with the Academic Honor Roll, Academic Excellence and Scholar-Athlete Recipients for Freshmen and Newcomers were also announced.

The MIAA Academic Honor Roll is released at the conclusion of each academic year for all MIAA Student-Athletes in all sports. To be eligible for the Honor Roll, student-athletes must have a grade point average (GPA) used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of at least 3.00 at the certifying member institution. They also have to at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution (excluding summer terms). The complete 2017-18 MIAA Academic Honor Roll is available here.

108 Freshmen and Newcomer student-athletes were named Academic Excellence and Scholar-Athlete Recipients for the 2017-18 Academic Year as well. An Academic Excellence Award is achieved with a 4.0 GPA or better at the certifying institution. The student-athletes with this honor must also have completed two terms of attendance at the certifying institution (excluding summer terms). Scholar-Athlete Awards are received with a cumulative GPA of 3.50, after  two terms of attendance at the certifying institution (excluding summer terms), and, if competing in a championship sport of the MIAA, earn All-MIAA honors. If competing in a sport without an MIAA championship, the student-athlete must either be selected to an All-Region/District team in a team sport, or qualify for the national meet in an individual sport.
