Mankato, Minn. – Central Oklahoma struck for eight runs over the first two innings as they picked up a 9-0 win over Pittsburg State in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Central Regional from Mankato, Minn.
The Bronchos struck in the bottom of the first inning as Tori Collett and Carli Jones each walked to force home runs. Ashleigh Tramel would follow up a fielder’s choice with a walk of her own that scored Collet giving UCO a 3-0 lead in the first.
The Bronchos got three more runs in the second as Carli Jones homered to center field scoring Jobi Heath and Carrie Abrams. Mo Selman would follow that up with a double that drove in Tramel and Brooke Zukerman.
Morgan heard had an RBI single that drove home Selman to make it a 9-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Abrams was three for four with two runs scored while Jones finished with four runs driven in. In the circle Jayden Chestnut threw a complete game shutout allowing just two hits and striking out nine.
The Bronchos will face Minnesota State-Mankato at 11 a.m. on May 12 while the Gorillas will face Augustana at 1:30 p.m. from Mankato, Minn.
