Kansas City, Mo. – Seven different teams placed at least one player on the first team as the All-MIAA team for softball was released today.
 
Central Oklahoma outfielder Carrie Abrams was named the MIAA Player of the Year leading the league with a .449 batting average. The MIAA Pitcher of the Year for the third straight season Pittsburg State’s Emmie Robertson has been named the MIAA Pitcher of the Year. Robertson sports a 0.74 earned runs average and is leading the MIAA in wins with 28 on the season.
 
Missouri Western third baseman Katie Klosterman and Southwest Baptist shortstop Stormy Christerson have been named the MIAA Co-Defensive Players of the Year. Pittsburg State utility player Kala Holder was named freshman of the year ranking third in the league with 11 home runs and third in slugging percentage at .653 on the year.
 
Cody White of Central Oklahoma was named the MIAA Coach of the Year after leading his team to the MIAA regular season championship.
 
Joining Robertson at first team pitcher is Central Oklahoma’s Jayden Chestnut. At catch for the second straight year is Central Oklahoma’s Tori Collett while Paige Gann of Northeastern State earned the honor at first base. In the middle infield are Missouri Southern’s Myranda Stewart at second base and Morgan Heard of Central Oklahoma who was a unanimous selection at shortstop.
 
Katie Klosterman earned first team honors for a second straight season at the third base position. In the outfield are Missouri Western’s Morgan Rathmann, Central Oklahoma’s Abrams and Missouri Southern’s Abi Corbett.
 
The designated player of the first team comes from Washburn in the person of Erica Harper. Holder earned the first team honors as utility non-pitcher while Central Missouri Katie Giacone earned first team utility pitcher.
 
The MIAA Tournament gets underway tonight from the ASA Hall of Fame Softball Stadium and Complex in Oklahoma City, Okla.
