Sioux Falls, S.D. – Pittsburg State could not overcome a poor shooting night as they fell 59-56 to Grand Valley State in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball National Tournament.
PSU shot just .340 on the night, but used a 13-8 points off of turnover advantage to stay in the game until the very end. The Gorillas forced 12 turnovers and and came away with five blocks shots as a team.
For the Gorillas Mikaela Burgess led the way scoring 13 points going three of six from behind the three-point line. Cathy
Brugman had 12 points and pulled down five rebounds while Paige
Lungwitz finished with 11 points and six rebounds.
Hadyn Herlocker finished with a team best seven rebounds and dished out four assists.
PSU finishes 29-6 on the season and were the NCAA Division II Central Regional Champions making their second trip to the Elite Eight after making the round of eight in 2012.
