Sioux Falls, S.D. – Fourth seeded Nebraska-Kearney trailed by two in the first quarter before using a 12-3 run to grab a lead and did not look back in a 79-67 win over fifth seeded Fort Hays State in the first round of the central regional.
Connor Beranek led the Lopers with a double-double scoring a game high 37 points and pulling down 14 rebounds. Trey Lansman and Ty Danielson each added 16 points while Kevin Dineen dished out five assists.
For the Tigers Dom Samac had a double-double as he scored 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Craig Nicholson added 19 points and four assists and Jake Stoppel finished with 16 points.
Nebraska-Kearney will face top seeded Augustana at 7:30 p.m. on march 13 from the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls.
