Kansas City, Mo. – Seven MIAA football players earned All-American honors as they were announced this morning by the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioners Association.
Earning first team honors on offense was Northwest Missouri offensive lineman Chase Sherman. Sherman has started all 14 games along the offensive line for the Bearcats who ranked first in the league in total offense.
On the defensive side of the ball MIAA Player of the Year Sie Doe Jr. of Fort Hays State earned first team honors on the defensive line. Doe led the league in sacks this season with 15 total finishing second in tackles for a loss with 19.5 on the year. He is joined by Northwest Missouri linebacker Jacob Vollstedt who had a league best 24 tackles for a loss.
The leading tackler in the MIAA Tyke Kozeal of Nebraska-Kearney earned first team honors averaging 15.8 tackles per game on the year. Kevin Berg of the Northwest Missouri secondary was also first team with eight pass break-ups and four interceptions so far this season.
Earning second team honors was Northwest Missouri quarterback Kyle Zimmerman who has 43 total touchdowns on the year. On the second team defense was Bearcat defensive lineman Collin Bevins who has 15.5 tackles for a loss and eight sacks on the season.
