Oklahoma City, Okla. – Central Missouri gave up four runs over final two innings as they fell 7-6 in eight innings to California (Pa.) in the NCAA Division II Softball Championship.
Central Missouri got the scoring started in the top of the third inning as Lauren Mabe singled to left field and drove in two runs after Makayla Schoonover had scored earlier in the inning on a passed ball.
Jakki Prater tacked on two runs in the top of the fifth with a home run to left center that drove in Lindsay Dawson. Mabe would make it back to back as she followed with a solo home run to center field.
California would answer in the bottom of the fifth frame as the plated three runs to cut the UCM lead in half. They would then tie the game up in the bottom of the seventh scoring three runs. The Vulcans would then add a run in the bottom of the eighth to win the game.
The Jennies finish the season 49-17 after winning the MIAA Championship, regional championship and super regional championship.
