Kansas City, Mo. -- Emporia State shot just .217 from the field in the second half as they fell 51-46 to California of Pennsylvania in the NCAA Division II National Semifinal.
ESU led by as much as seven points at the 10:01 mark in the first half as both teams hot poorly from the field. Cal got 17 points off of turnovers, but
ESU outrebounded the
Vulcans 47-34 on the night.
For the Lady Hornets Kelly
Moten led the way scoring 17 points, pulling down nine rebounds and dishing out four assists. Merissa Quick finished with 11 points and eight rebounds while Kathryn
Flott led the way on the glass pulling down 11 boards.
Emporia State finishes the season 29-5 and were both the
MIAA and Central Regional Tournament Champions.
