Hays, Kan. – Top seeded Fort Hays State used a strong second half to pull out a 70-54 victory over fourth seeded Wayne State in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Central Regional.
FHSU lead by just two points at the half, but that was part of a 14-0 run that spanned halftime to give them a 13-point edge. FHSU held WSC to just .333 shooting from the field as they held them to just 19 first half points.
The Tigers were led by Kate Lehman who scored 23 points and Paige Lunsford with eight rebounds and five assists. Chelsea Mason scored 13 points and Beth Bohuslavsky added 12 points ad Keriann Shaw and Jill Faxon each pulled down seven boards.
FHSU will now face off with second seeded Emporia State for the regional championship on March 16 at 7 p.m. from Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays, Kan.
