SBU WOMEN, UNK MEN WIN MIAA CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP

MSSU's Kiprop, SBU's Sitzes claim individual titles

Hays, Kan. – Southwest Baptist placed four women in the top ten to earn the MIAA Women’s Cross Country Championship ahead of second place MSSU and FHSU who came in third. In the men’s race Nebraska-Kearney put three racers in the top ten to earn the title ahead of second place SBU and PSU who finished third.
 
In the women’s 6K race Katherine Sitzes of Southwest Baptist ran a 21:26.20 to earn the victory at the race. Her teammate Elizabeth Luckel finished in 21:47.00 to earn second place. Morgan Benesch of Nebraska-Kearney was third with Missouri Southern’s Emily Harris and Southwest Baptist’s Mary Carr rounding out the top five.
 
Also earning top ten honors were FHSU’s Shea Bonine and Micki Krzesinki, MSSU’s Kindra Emberton, SBU’s Ashley Lawson and LWU’s Lisa Feuerherdt. Those in 11th-20th place earn honorable mention All-MIAA honors as well.
 
In the men’s race Vincent Kiprop finished in 23:40.00 to win the MIAA title. Cory Keehn of Fort Hays State was second setting a 24:08.90 paces on his home course. Cole Wellnitz of Nebraska-Kearney was third with NWMSU’s Nolan Zimmer finishing fourth and Austin Bogina of PSU rounding out the top five.
 
Also earning top ten honors were UNK’s Jahn Landrigan and Alex Obermier, SBU’s Cody Smith and Drew Cargill and NWMSU Brayden Clews-Proctor. Those in 11th-20th place earn honorable mention All-MIAA honors as well.
