Tiffany Brown Player, Jackie Bishop Pitcher of the Year

Kansas City, Mo. – Seven different teams placed players on the All-MIAA first team released by the league today.

Pittsburg State’s Tiffany Borwn, who led the MIAA with 27 home runs setting a new single season league record, has been named the MIAA Player of the Year. She was named to that spot unanimously as well as being named a unanimous first team All-MIAA selection in the outfield. Jackie Bishop, who has thrown three no hitters this season while carrying a 21-8 record and a 1.09 ERA, was named the MIAA Pitcher of the Year.

Central Oklahoma’s Tori Collet has caught five of the 12 runners who have attempted to steal against her and has been named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Year. Northwest Missouri shortstop Chantel Adams has been named the Freshman of the Year after hitting .372 with 10 home runs and 42 runs driven in. Julie LeMaire has been named Coach of the Year after leading Emporia State to the MIAA regular season title.

Joining Bishop at first team pitcher is Kalynn Schrock who threw a perfect game for Central Oklahoma earlier this season. Fort Hays State’s Callie Wright earned first team honors at catcher. Going around the infield Tiffany Gillaspy of Missouri Western at first base, Central Oklahoma’s Ally Dziadula at second base and Emporia State’s Taylor Zordel and Jessica Gragg at shortstop and third base respectively.

In the outfield Brown was joined as a unanimous selection by Emporia State’s Stephanie Goodwin. Kaylee Brunson of Central Oklahoma rounded out the three outfield slots on the first team. McKenzie Rynard of Pittsburg State was named the first team designated player with Marina Quimby of Washburn being named the first team utility/non-pitcher. Rounding out the first team squad at utility/pitcher was Central Missouri’s Jakki Prater.

The MIAA tournament begins May 1st and runs through May 3rd at Blue Valley Recreation Complex in Overland Park, Kan.
