Kansas City, Mo. – Missouri Southern shot .517 from the field as the defeated Fort Hays State 80-69 in the opening round the NCAA Division II Central Regional in Mankato, Minn. MSSU got 14 fast break points and 11 on the second chance as they moved into the semi final round.

Marquis Addison led the way for the Lions scoring 26 points, pulling down nine rebounds and dishing out three assists. Jordan Talbert and Lane Barlow each finished with 11 points and Greg Renfroe added ten points. On the glass Slim Magee had 12 rebounds to lead everyone in the game. For the Tigers Dwayne Brunson led the way scoring 21 points and pulling down eight rebounds. Craig Nicholson was just shy of a double-double scoring 15 points and dishing out nine assists.

Missouri Southern will await the winner of second seed Central Missouri and seventh seed Arkansas Tech at 6 p.m. on March 16 from Mankato, Minn. Fort Hays State finishes the season with a 22-8 overall record.
