Kansas City, Mo. – No undefeated teams remain as week seven comes to a close in MIAA football.
Nebraska-Kearney 31, Lindenwood 13
Nebraska-Kearney held Lindenwood scoreless for the whole first half as they picked up a win at home. UNK racked up 240 yards on the ground as they picked up their second win of the season.
For the Lopers Bronson Marsh rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns while passing for 157 yards and a score. Romero Cotton rushed for 112 yards as well and Allen Sampson caught four passes for 64 yards and a touchdown. On defense Tyke Kozel and Greg Sherwood led the way as they each finished with eight tackles.
For the Lions Graham Lindman threw for 211 yards on 21 of 42 passing. Lavorrie Johnson and Marvin Byrd each had touchdowns on the ground with Johnson finishing with 68 yards. On the defensive side of the ball Roderick Ryles and Connor Harris had 11 tackles each.
Missouri Western 40, Washburn 14
Missouri Western forced three turnovers as they picked up a victory on the road at Washburn. John Schmiemeier connected on four field goals on the afternoon as MWSU moves to 5-2 on the year.
For the Griffons Skyler Windmiller was 18 of 24 for 264 yards and a touchdown hitting Brandynn Clark on a 71-yard score. Raphael Spencer carried the ball 20 times for 58 yards and added a score. On defense Stephen Juergens recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown and Michael Jordan picked off a pass which he returned for a score.
For the Ichabods Zeke Palmer was 21 of 34 for 194 yards and two touchdowns. Connor Crimmins caught four passes for 98 yards and Ronnell Garner and DaJaun Beard each hauled in touchdown catches. On the defensive side of the ball Calvin Kenney had 12 tackles and Shay Wooten picked off a pass.
Central Missouri 31, Central Oklahoma 19
In a game that saw over 900 yards of total offense Central Missouri scored the first two touchdowns and held on a for a win over Central Oklahoma at home. UCM had 266 yards on the ground as both teams move to 5-2 on the season.
For the Mules LaVance Taylor carried the ball 21 times for 228 yards and two touchdowns. Hayden Hawk was 11 of 19 for 178 yards through the air and a touchdown while also adding a score on the ground. On defense J.R. Alexander has eight tackles and Zach Leinbaugh, Connor Smith and Alexander each picked off a pass.
For the Bronchos Chas Stallard was 31 of 43 for 312 yards through the air adding two touchdowns on the ground. Jake Gandara has 120 rushing yards and Marquez Clark has 97 receiving yards. On defense Malcolm Howard and Logan Orso each had nine tackles and Chass Glaspie had seven stops.
#17 Pittsburg State 35, #1 Northwest Missouri 17
#17 Pittsburg State scored the first four touchdowns of the game as they held on for an upset victory over #1 Northwest Missouri. PSU recovered two on-side kicks in the first half as both teams leave the game 6-1 on the season.
For the Gorillas Anthony Abenoja was 19 of 38 for 318 yards and three touchdowns. Gavin Lutman caught six passes for 134 yards and a score and Murquise Cushon caught six passes for 105 yards and a score. On defense Colby Hall led the way with 18 tackles, picked off a pass and forced a fumble that was returned 45 yards by Deaven Jensen for a touchdown.
For the Bearcats Brady Bolles was 20 of 40 for 161 yards hitting TJ Schieber for a touchdown and rushing for one of his own. Phil Jackson finished with 82 yards rushing and Bolles added 69 yards on the ground. On defense DJ Gnader led the team with eight tackles and Jared Fox picked off three passes.
Fort Hays State 24, Emporia State 21
Fort Hays State scored the first 21 points of the game and then held off a second half Emporia State comeback on the road. FHSU forced four turnovers and blocked a field goal attempt to move to 4-3 on the season.
For the Tigers Treveon Albert was 14 of 29 for 235 yards and two touchdowns. Edward Smith rushed for 70 yards and a scored while Zack Gaughan and Ed Williams hauled in touchdown catches. On defense Justin McPhail led the way with 15 tackles and Nathan Lindsey picked off two Hornets passes.
For the Hornets Braxton Marstall was 11 of 22 for 115 yards hitting Justin Brown for a touchdown. Kai Callins carried the ball 24 for times for 101 yards and a touchdown on the day. On the defensive side of the ball Lyndell Johnson led the way with nine tackles and Seth Culp picked off two passes.
Missouri Southern 34, Northeastern State 7
Missouri Southern racked up 401 yards of total offense as they picked up a victory over Northeastern State at home. MSSU had 346 of their yards on the ground as they moved to 3-4 on the season.
For the Lions Giresse Forchu carried the ball 17 times for 134 yards and a touchdowns. Shannon Saunders had a 12 carries for 12 carries for 103 yards and two scores while Will Gregory carried the ball four times for 101 yards. On defense Johnquavious McBride made a team best 10 tackles and also picked off a pass.
For the RiverHawks Kevin Pantastico was 15 of 30 for 184 yards and a touchdown. Derrick Moore finished with 83 rushing yards while Garrett Powell had 61 receiving yards and a touchdown. On defense Kenneth Davis led the way with seven tackles and Steffon Herd, Marcus Cotton and Eddie General each had six stops.
