Fourteen year old record falls in ESU-PSU game

Kansas City, Mo. – A game went to overtime for the third straight week and a record that stood since 1991 fell on a wild day in MIAA football.
 
Nebraska-Kearney 34, Northeastern State 7
Nebraska-Kearney netted 487 yards of total offense, racking up 382 on the ground in a victory on the road over Northeastern State. UNK held NSU to just 264 yards on the day as they picked up their first win of the year.
 
For the Lopers Bronson Marsh rushed for 242 yards and four touchdowns also adding 105 yards passing on the day. Caleb Lundgren rushed for 72 yards and Kevin Lane added 41 yards on the ground. On the defensive side of the ball Tyke Kozeal led the way with ten tackles and also picked off a pass.
 
For the RiverHawks Kevin Pantastico was 19 of 30 for 159 yards through the air. Derrick Moore carried the ball just two times, but went for 75 yards and a touchdown in the game. On defense Kenneth Davis, Carson Smallwood and Steffon Herd all finished with seven stops.
 
Central Missouri 44, Washburn 0
Central Missouri held Washburn to just 183 yards of total offense as they picked up a shutout victory at home. The Mules took advantage of three interceptions including one that went back for a score as they moved to 4-2 on the year.
 
Offensively for the Mules Hayden Hawk was 18 of 32 for 194 yards through the air while rushing for 61 yards and three touchdowns. Ray Harris added a touchdown on the ground and Will Mondragon connected on three field goals. On defense Sam Smith led the way with nine tackles and Travion Vaughn returned an interception for a touchdown.
 
For the Ichabods Zeke Palmer was 12 of 25 for 116 yards including a long 43-yard pass. Vershon Moore rushed for 36 yards and caught two passes for 13 yards on the afternoon. On the defensive side of the ball Calvin Kenney had 17 tackles and Jaime Myers finished with 11 stops and Jordan Nelson picked off a pass.
 
#1 Northwest Missouri 51, Lindenwood 20
#1 Northwest Missouri got a touchdown from their defense and their special teams as they picked up a win on the road at Lindenwood. NWMSU rolled for 431 yards of total offense as they moved 6-0 on the year.
 
For the Bearcats Brady Bolles was 16 of 25 for 204 yards and two touchdowns through the air as Randy Schmidt and Robert Burton adding rushing touchdowns. George Sehl and Jacob Vollstedt each caught touchdown passes and Marcus Jones returned a kick for a score. On defense Brock Sherman had seven tackles and Travis Manning returned an interception for a score.
 
For the Lions Graham Lindman was 23 of 57 for 317 yards and two touchdowns. Alex Robinson had 91 yards receiving, Greg Coble had 90 yards receiving and one touchdown and Tre’ Roby caught three passes for 81 yards and a score. On defense Roderick Ryles and Connor Harris had eight tackles each and Brian Hawthorne picked off a pass.
 
#18 Pittsburg State 45, Emporia State 17
It was a record-breaking day as #18 Pittsburg State picked up a win at home over Emporia State. The Gorillas scored 24 straight points after falling behind 10-0 on their way to 5-1 on the season.
 
For PSU Gavin Lutman caught 10 passes for 268 yards and four touchdowns breaking the record for most receiving yards in a game set by Rod Smith of Missouri Southern on Oct. 19, 1991. Anthony Abenoja was 26 of 39 for 438 yards and five touchdowns. On defense Spencer Brown led the way with 12 tackles and Taye Irvin forced two fumbles.
 
For the Hornets Antonio Brown carried the ball 20 times for 134 yards and one touchdown. Through the air Ty Reasnor was 9 of 19 for 103 yards. On defense Deshawn Dinwiddie and Josh Monteagudo had 11 tackles each and Lyndell Johnson returned a blocked put for a touchdown.
 
Central Oklahoma 43, Missouri Southern 41 3OT
It took three overtime periods, but Central Oklahoma escaped with a victory over Missouri Southern at home. The two teams combined for 708 yards on the ground as UCO moved to 5-1 on the season.
 
For the Bronchos Jake Gandara carried the ball 26 times for 215 yards and three touchdowns including a 70-yard strike. Chas Stallard was 11 for 21 for 89 yards and two scores through the air connecting with Connor Pulley for both touchdowns. On defense Chass Glaspie had 23 tackles, Addison Staggs had 14 tackles and Malcolm Howard had 13 stops.
 
For the Lions Giresse Forchu had 65 rushing yards and two scores and was joined by Chris Barnwell who scored twice on the ground. Shannon Saunders and Scott Lathrop added rushing scores as seven different MSSU players had at least 50 yards rushing on the day. On the defensive side of the ball Johnquavious McBride had 10 tackles and Eric Dago added eight stops.
 
Missouri Western 26, Fort Hays State 7
Missouri Western got 202 yards on the ground as the picked up a victory on the road at Fort Hays State. MWSU forced three turnovers on the night as they moved to 4-2 on the season.
 
For the Griffons Raphael Spencer carried the ball 23 times for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Skyler Windmiller was 15 of 26 for 153 yards through the air while also adding a touchdown on the ground. Stephen Juergens had 12 tackles on defense as Sam Brown and Jonathan Owens picked off passes.
 
For the Tigers Treveon Albert was 29 of 48 for 329 yards and a touchdown through the air. Ed Williams caught 14 passes for 201 yards and Isaiah Maxi hauled in a touchdown catch. On the defensive side of the ball Michael Jordan led the way with 19 tackles and Brock Long had nine stops.
