Springfield, Mo. -- Northwest Missouri got strong play from their 4-6 singles players as they won their second straight MIAA Men's Tennis title. NWMSU rolled back from behind early to take the match 5-1 and earn the automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Men's Regional.
Southwest Baptist jumped out on top early as Kristof Kinal and Omar El Kheshan took #1 doubles by an 8-5 tally over Luis Altimires and Sergio De Vilchez. Northwest rebounded with an 8-2 win by Alvero Riveros and Guilherme Narducci over Daniel Cardona and Domingos Carissimo at #2 doubles. Rafael Bugigia and Dylan Barnatzky pulled out an 8-6 win at #3 doubles over Alex Belote and Guido Margiotta.
In singles Alvaro Riveros got it started taking a 6-3, 6-2 match over Daniel Cardona in #4 singles. Guilherme Narducci pulled out a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Alex Belote to win at #5 singles. Finally Jason Harris won 6-3, 6-1 over Guido Margiotta to seal the MIAA Championship.
Washburn earned a 5-2 victory in the third place match over Nebraska-Kearney.
The Bearcats will now wait and see await their opponent in the NCAA South Central Regional.
