Kansas City, Mo. -- Southwest Baptist defeated Emporia State 5-0 while Nebraska-Kearney knocked off Truman by the same margin to win on day one of the MIAA Men's Tennis Tournament in Springfield, Mo.

The match opened with Yeswanth Nadella and John Steinke defeating Jake Ohlhausen and Griffen Smith 8-5 at #1 doubles. In #2 doubles Lopers' Revel Yehezkia and Fletcher Sheridan knocked off Joe Murphy-Baum and Adam King by an 8-4 tally. In the final doubles match Jack Nicholson and Arin Enge won 8-4 over Patrick Spain and Matt Peterson.
In singles Arin Enge would win his match 6-3, 6-2 at #4 singles and Jack Nicholson would win 6-1, 6-3 at #5 singles to seal the match.
UNK advances to face top seeded Northwest Missouri at 9 a.m. tomorrow from the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.

Southwest Baptist opened the match with a 8-3 win at #1 singles as Kristof Kinal and Omar El Kheshen defeated Keenan Smith and Bryson Dabney. In #2 doubles SBU's Domingos Carissimo and Daniel Cardona defeated Andrew Davids and Mat Edwards 8-5 in a hotly contested match. In the final doubles match Alex Belote and Guido Margiotta defeated ESU's Mitch Kibbe and Kenton Hallowell 8-5 to move with a 3-0 advantage.
In singles Domingos Carissimo swept through 6-0, 6-0 at #1 singles and Omar El Kheshen pulled out a 6-1, 6-1 victory to advance his team.
