Kansas City, Mo. – Missouri Southern and Central Oklahoma opened the final week of the regular season on Monday night.
Central Oklahoma at Missouri Southern
WBB – MSSU 68, UCO 66
Missouri Southern overcame a six-point halftime deficit to knock off Central Oklahoma at home. Samantha Soyez hit two free throws with 52 seconds to play to break the games ninth tie and move MSSU to 6-10 in the league this year.
For the Lions Erin Rice led the way with 15 points and nine points while Dominique Mosley added 12 points. Sharese Jones has 11 points and Shonte Clay added 10 points and Soyez had nine assists. For the Bronchos McKenzie Solberg had 16 points to lead all scorers. Jill Bryan had 10 points and Savannah Hamilton pulled down six rebounds on the night.
MBB – MSSU 85, UCO 77
The Missouri Southern men also came from behind and erased a halftime deficit to defeat Central Oklahoma. Both teams shot under .400, but MSSU hit ten three-pointers to move to 7-9 in the league this season.
For the Lions Marquis Addison had a double-double scoring 23 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. Austin Wright added 16 points and Jordan Talbert pulled down 12 rebounds in the game. For the Bronchos Jamell Cormier scored 19 points and Josh Gibbs added 12 points. Christian Huffman and June Carter each had 11 points while Spencer Smith added ten points and six boards.
